CALL FOR PAPERS
The third edition of “Individual and Specific Signs” intends to combine contributions coming from different fields: Letters / Philology, Communication Sciences, History, Psychology and Sociology, Economic Sciences, thus leading towards a multi- and transdisciplinary dialogue.
The regional and national cultural spaces, far from constituting themselves into self-sufficient enclaves, enter a process of perpetual communication and redefinition, in the context of this era of globalization that we all experience. The discursive construction of identity is based on complex strategies, which are at the crossroads of some complementary domains, such as psychology, sociology or education sciences. The difference between the poetic Self and the social one, between the one with which the narrating character is designated and the one attributed by the author is studied by the literary, poetic and narratological theories or by the pragmatics of fiction. On the other hand, the human beings, through their constructive qualities perceived as a whole, should not be interpreted individually, but, on the contrary, as an integrative part of a social organization. On the premises of the new European context that reconsiders the unity in diversity and imposes the preservation of the identity marks, our conference also revolves around the idea of social corporate responsibility, of a new identity and of a new civic image.
This is the reason why this year, through the general topic “Cultural Spaces and Identities in (Inter)Action”, we suggest a productive discussion which has at its core the constant implications of the innovative ideas in literature, linguistics, arts, history, philosophy, communication sciences, all envisaged in the process of identity reconstruction. It is important to underline the fact that originality and creativity constitute the vivid and compulsory resources of these changes. An important step is rendered by the labeling of the year 2009 as the European Year of creativity and innovation. Undoubtedly, the efficiency of this approach must be doubled by concrete initiatives, which should lead to consistent results and to multi- or transdisciplinary projects of cooperation, as we expect to obtain from the discussions brought about by our conference.
If the persistence and preservation of cultural values represent an important condition in defining the individual and/or collective identity, it is essential for us, as specialists in socio-humanistic studies, to engage ourselves, from an interdisciplinary perspective, to identify and analyse the implications and the changing potential of the new forms of intercultural dialogue.
THEMATIC AREAS
Ø PARADIGMS OF IDENTITY
- praxi-theoretical perspectives in culture, language sciences, socio-political sciences, history and philosophy;
- identity – from the local-regional perspective to the European one; cultural interferences and forms of otherness;
- representations of the urban discourse: linguistic perspectives, literary approach, communicational practices, organizational practices.
